Arholma
Arholma is a leafy island in the northern archipelago with beautiful historic buildings. Here, with the sea of Åland as the closest neighbour, you can enjoy a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, under the watchful eye of the historic Arholma beacon built in 1763.
From the steamboat jetty you can take a stroll along the old village road and admire the houses from the 17th century, or shop at the small country shop. The whole island is a nature reserve with trails that run through forests and meadows, with grazing cattle and sheep in the beautiful cultural nature landscape.
A kilometre walk from the steamboat jetty you will find a beautiful bay with Arholma Nord. It has a small restaurant and cosy accommodation, and the military building Batteri Arholma that has been turned into a museum where you can take a guided tour and feel the winds of the days of the cold war.
Arholma is part of Arholma-Idö nature reserve that is managed by the Archipelago Foundation.
You can read all about the rules for nature reserves at the County Administrative Board.
